چکیده

IT AN ATTEMPT TO DETECT TNE CARRIERS of homologous serum hepatitis (HSH), determination of bilirubin in all sera appearing more yellow than normal was instituted at the Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service in Brisbane in 1949. While the estimation did not prove successful as an unequivocal test for HSH carriers, the results brought to light interesting findings both in regard to the methods for estimating bilirubin and to the serum bilirubin levels in normal people. Most modern methods for serum bilirubin estimation involve diazotization followed by treatment with reagents such as methyl and ethyl alcohol, sodium hydroxide, bile acids, citric acid, urea, caffeine, sodium benzoate, or sodium acetate. In our experience, the widely used methods involving the use of alcohols, such as those of Thann. hauser and Anderson (1) and of Malloy and Evelyn (2) and recent modifications thereof, may result in some turbidity in the final solutions, making them particularly unsuitable for use in the determination of low values. Further, they take undue time to perform and involve high dilutions of the azo-pigment. A modification of the method of Powell (3) was found to be most

Determination of Isosorbide Dinitrate in Serum by Gas Chromatography with New Generation of Electron Capture Detector and its Application in Pharmacokinetic Study

Isosorbide dinitrate (ISDN) is an effective drug in treatment of angina pectoris. In this study a new generation of electron capture detector (non-radioactive) with a short, non-polar and wide-bore column was used for analysis of ISDN in human serum. ISDN was extracted from serum by a mixture of ether and ethyl acetate and concentrated at room temperature. The method was linear between 5-50...

Comparison of the Weber-Schalm method with the Ducci-Watson modification of the Malloy-Evelyn method for serum bilirubin determination.

Unconjugated bilirubin, conjugated bilirubin, and mixtures of various proportions of each were dissolved in depigmented human serum. These, together with normal and pathologic native human sera, were analyzed for conjugated, unconjugated, and total bilirubin by the Weber-Schalm method. Results were compared with the determination of “prompt direct reacting bilirubin” and of total bilirubin by t...

Preparation of an artificial matrix to replace human standards of prostate specific antigen IRMA assay kit [Persian]

Introduction: Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is one of the most sensitive markers for diagnosis of prostate cancer. Immunoradiometric kit (IRMA) is a common and sensitive method for determination of PSA in clinical laboratories. This kit has four major components: solid phase coated with monocolonal antibody, pair antibody labelled with I-125, series of standards i...

High Performance Liquid Chromatographic Determination of Inactive Carboxylic Acid Metabolite of Clopidogrel in Human Serum: Application to a Bioequivalence Study

A sensitive and rapid method is described for determination of clopidogrel carboxylic acid (CCA), the inactive metabolite of the antiplatelet agent clopidogrel in human serum. The analytical procedure involves liquid-liquid extraction of the analyte and an internal standard (phenytoin) with ethyl acetate. A mobile phase consisting of 0.05 M phosphate buffer containing triethylamine (0.5...
